Fausto has an interesting story. His owner Nancy, tells us:
In November of 2009, our son, Michael, qualified to compete in the Ironman Triathlon, in Cozumel , Mexico.
My friend Sharon, who lived in Cozumel, told us that they had started a Humane Society, and invited us to tour the facility. After the tour, we chose the sweetest dog there, and made plans to find him a really good home in the US.
The morning of the triathlon, we all waited in the dawn for the gun to signal the start of ocean swim. One of the competitors, an outgoing young man from Cuba named Fausto, entertained us with his stories as we all waited for the gun to sound. We cheered for Fausto and for Michael, as they swam, biked and ran past us throughout the long day.
Two days later, we met Sharon at the bus station to pick up our new dog. Our daughter, Claire, said “Let's name him Fausto!” By the time we got home, we had all decided that he was too sweet to give away.
